About Stoma Icon
According to the Pschyrembel dictionary, the term "stoma" describes an opening produced as the result of a surgical operation on a hollow organ (stomach, intestines, bladder). In certain intestinal diseases it is not possible to retain the anus, rectum or parts of the large intestine. This generally results in an artificial outlet for the colon (large intestine) in the abdominal wall - a colostomy. This is what is referred to as a terminal colostomy. This has very little, if any, effect on the functioning of the large intestine.

We refer to a double-barrelled colostomy if just part of the intestine is temporarily immobilised but no organ is removed. This procedure is used, for example, to allow surgical cuts to heal in peace, or to protect inflamed sections of the intestines. When a colonstomy is created, a piece of the large intestines is drawn outwards through an opening in the abdominal wall and cut in two to create two openings. This immobilises the left part of the intestine and the stools are passed through the right part.
In the case of a terminal ileostomy the entire large intestine is removed. Similar to the terminal colonstomy, the end of the small intestine is brought out through the abdominal wall.

A stoma places a burden on normal, day-to-day life. To make coping with the ailment and the stoma pouch easier, we have designed stoma-belt. Simple and practical to use, stoma-belt provides reliable protection in every situation.
